According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur would probably need to pay a transfer fee in excess of £50 million in order to get Dominic Solanke, a striker for Bournemouth, this summer.

With 12 goals in 19 Premier League games, Solanke has had an outstanding first half of the season and has propelled the Cherries to a lofty twelfth spot in the standings.

With captain Heung-min Son currently representing South Korea at the Asia Cup, Ange Postecoglou decided to bring in Timo Werner on loan last week to bolster the club’s attacking options. Tottenham has yet to move to sign a permanent replacement for Harry Kane, who left North London for Bayern Munich ahead of the current campaign.

According to the source, Newcastle United is also interested in signing the former Liverpool forward, and Bournemouth is reportedly ready for bids. Newcastle has been short on strikers after Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak both missed time due to injuries.

Is Dominic Solanke a replacement for Harry Kane?

Compared to previous season, when Harry Kane carried a disproportionate amount of the team’s goal-scoring load, Tottenham has so far been able to distribute the scoring more evenly around the squad. Both Heung-min Son and, more recently, Richardson have offered to assume the role.

Since Solanke only recently inked a new deal with Bournemouth last summer, he will remain with Andoni Iraola’s team until the middle of June 2027. This puts the south coast team in a strong position to negotiate with potential suitors.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Richarlison both had goals in Tottenham’s 2-2 tie with Manchester United yesterday afternoon.

Dominic Solanke has had a strong start to the season, however, a sum in excess of £50million for a player who is experiencing a purple patch is a large risk.

The 26-year-old only scored six goals in his 33 Premier League games the previous season, so if Tottenham is going to pay a sizable sum, they need a guy who can consistently provide goals.
