Steve Cooper will be spending the international break trying to devise a plan to help Leicester City beat Southampton next weekend.

A win would see Leicester City make it two victories in a row after Steve Cooper earned a first Premier League win as manager against Bournemouth last time out.

As well as working hard at Seagrave, Cooper will be keeping everything crossed that Leicester’s international stars all return to the club fit and healthy and ready for a crucial run of fixtures.

If Leicester are able to keep getting points on the board then that should see the pressure start to ease from Cooper and if he is still in charge in January he could now have a big decision to make.

Leicester City can recall Tom Cannon in January

One decision Cooper made in the summer was to allow 21-year-old centre-forward Tom Cannon join Stoke City on loan despite the fact it is a position Leicester are short in.

The Deadline Day loan of Odsonne Edouard helped with that somewhat but, with Patson Daka still sidelined, Jamie Vardy and Edouard are the only natural centre-forwards in the squad.

Cannon has impressed at The Potters and gained widespread attention as he scored four in one game against Portsmouth recently.

The Foxes wanted a sale in the summer but no one was willing to match their £10 million valuation, however they could explore that option again in January as journalist Alan Nixon has confirmed via his Patreon that Leicester have an “option to call back Tom Cannon in the next window – and that is putting his Championship fan club on red alert.”

Some may argue that Cannon’s form is showing exactly why Leicester should look to hold onto the Ireland forward, but Cooper clearly does not fancy Cannon.

Nixon went on to claim that a recall and then sale is more likely than a recall to be involved in the Leicester side, saying: “Leicester can take Cannon back halfway through the season although that may be more likely to sell him permanently.”

He is unlikely to be short of suitors if that is the case, as Nixon adds: “Stoke could look at that deal, although they are under new management now, while Sheffield United and West Brom are still keen.

“Leicester hope Cannon’s form will get them the £10 million they wanted in the closing stages of the summer market.

Foxes fans may well be divided on what the club should do with Cannon, but it is certainly one to keep an eye on.
