One centre-back attracting a lot of interest ahead of a big January transfer window is now unlikely to sign for either Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham are in severe need of a center-back, which is high on Ange Postecoglou’s priority list.

In addition, Arsenal continues to lack the elite-level competition at the back that Mikel Arteta desires in all areas. Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace is a player who fits both requirements.

Guehi, who is said to be on the wishlists of both North London clubs, is unlikely to leave in January, according to TEAMtalk. Given his fantastic opportunity to debut for England at the Euros, the player himself is eager to enjoy a settled and consistent season.

However, according to this story, Palace would want to cash out after the competition, which might raise his asking price.

This is clearly a setback for both Arsenal and Tottenham, albeit possibly more so for the latter. Spurs have plenty of solid choices at center-back, but finding a man capable of challenging both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven will be difficult.

Marc Guehi will not contemplate joining Arsenal or Tottenham in January.

According to the article, both London clubs have previously been made aware of this information, and have been warned against any disruptive attempts. That could explain why Tottenham is rumored to be targeting a £40 million Ligue 1 defender in January.

Marc Guehi, a player who could start for any Premier League club, will surely attract a lot of interest when he becomes available. But, given Crystal Palace’s injury woes, they couldn’t afford to lose him just now.

Perhaps his center-back partner, Joachim Anderson, will be a player that top Premier League clubs will be looking at in the near future. If Arsenal do make a January move, they will almost certainly prioritize a central midfielder or a striker.

However, considering certain unusual plans that have recently arisen for next summer, they may hold off for the time being.
