Adam Barrett perceives that Millwall’s players are embracing his coaching philosophy during his interim tenure as manager

Some aspects of what Adam Barrett has witnessed in the three games have impressed him. The duration of his stay at The Den remains uncertain as the club’s leadership continues its search for a permanent manager.

In the meantime, Barrett has been tasked with maintaining Millwall’s competitive edge on the field and striving to improve their position in the Championship. During his three matches in charge, Millwall experienced a home defeat to Blackburn Rovers, with draws against Preston North End and Watford in between. These fixtures were all played within a seven-day span, and Barrett now has a week off to focus on training.

The new coach advised the team to take ‘positives’ from their two last matches.

Reflecting on his team’s progress so far, Barrett stated, “It’s been a challenging week, and I’ve implemented some changes that I believe will be beneficial. We have adjusted our formation, aiming to play a more attacking and aggressive style. Despite the injury situation and the tough matches we’ve faced, I’m familiar with the group, and I’ve seen a strong response from both the players and the staff. The team is working cohesively for each other.”

Barrett also acknowledged that they could have secured more points if certain factors had played out differently in recent matches, emphasizing that the players are putting in the effort and demonstrating a positive attitude.

Millwall’s upcoming match will see them face Southampton, and Barrett anticipates a challenging encounter at The Den against the former Premier League side.
