Leeds Fined and Warned by FA for Fan Assault on Newcastle’s Eddie Howe

Leeds United has received a £40,000 fine and an FA warning following an incident in which a fan physically confronted Newcastle manager Eddie Howe. This episode occurred during a Premier League match in May, with the supporter in question swiftly facing assault charges by West Yorkshire Police.

In July, the individual was due to appear before magistrates and later received a 12-week prison sentence along with a six-year football banning order.

Leeds had previously imposed a lifetime ban on the individual. The FA has also taken action against the club for violating regulations concerning supporter conduct.

Half of the £40,000 fine is suspended until the end of the 2024/25 season, and Leeds has been cautioned regarding their future conduct. The FA stated that Leeds United admitted to failing in ensuring that their spectators, supporters, or anyone claiming to be affiliated with the club conducted themselves in an orderly manner, refraining from improper, offensive, violent, threatening, abusive, insulting, or provocative words or behaviors.
