Ange Postecoglou may regret his decision to start Pierre-Emile Hojberg as Tottenham face Manchester City (14 May).

Spurs come into the game against the Citizens knowing that they must win to keep their chances of Champions League qualification alive.

Postecoglou will be hoping his side can make it back-to-back home wins after a 2-1 win over Burnley last time around.

As confirmed via the club’s official X account, three changes have been made seeing Hojberg, Radu Dragusin and Rodrigo Bentancur come into the starting XI. This has seen Oliver Skipp, Yves Bissouma and Dejan Kulusevski all dropout.

Ange Postecoglou puts faith in Pierre-Emile Hojberg

The last time that the Denmark international started a match came in the North London Derby defeat to Arsenal.

He scored an own goal on the day which put the away side in front before they grabbed another two.

He played just 64 minutes on the day and in that time completed just 33 per cent of his tackles and lost five duels .

Hojberg has since played just 29 minutes of Premier League action for Tottenham against Chelsea and Burnley.

In the win over the Clarets, the 28-year-old was afforded just two minutes of action which saw him have just three touches.

By comparison, Bentancur came on for just 15 minutes and completed 88 per cent of passes and won a ground duel and now they line up together against City.

A win against Pep Guardiola’s side would keep Spurs in the hunt for Champions League football which has been the goal all season. Something that Postecoglou has his eyes set on.
