It’s been a hectic week for Millwall since the Championship season ended.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga is the subject of transfer rumors at Millwall right now, as the Lions are reportedly trying to get the player back to the team following a fruitful loan period.

But The Den has also seen internal turmoil, as evidenced by a number of exits and recent additions to the top leadership group.

Millwall confirm Fairbrother return

Mark Fairbrother, who was previously Millwall’s chief financial officer, has returned to the team as managing director of non-football operations. After leaving in October 2023, the former vice president of finance for Formula E is back at The Den.

The announcement follows Millwall’s last week announcement of three internal departures. The club saw the departure of Chief Operating Officer Billy Taylor, Director of Football Operations and Recruitment Alex Aldridge, and Chief Executive Steve Kavanagh.

Fairbrother began working at Millwall in 2018 after having had positions at Aston Villa and Gloucester Rugby.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Mark back to Millwall Football Club,” stated Millwall Chairman James Berylson. Mark has proven throughout his career that he can lead in a variety of senior roles, and he brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and skill to the table.

“Mark will undoubtedly lead the team to greater success in this new chapter, both on and off the field.”

Serie A giants interested in Watford star

Yaser Asprilla, a gifted young player from Watford, is reportedly interested in joining Serie A powerhouse Inter Milan in Italy this summer.

As transfer interest in Asprilla is growing, InterLive reports the most recent link. The 20-year-old, who joined the London team in 2022 after leaving Colombian team Envigado, was a shining light for the Hornets this season.

Catalan giants Barcelona had previously been linked with the midfielder, who still has two years left on his deal with Watford.

Sheffield United prepare £8m bid for Sunderland talent

As the Blades are ready to return to the Championship, Sheffield United is rumored to have made Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson a “first choice” transfer target this summer.

The highly regarded 23-year-old goalie has had a successful season in the North East. The Sunderland Echo reports that the academy graduate has recently been linked to moves to Celtic, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

Sheffield United has recently entered the fray and is rumored to be preparing an £8 million offer for the goalkeeper; nevertheless, the Black Cats are valued at between £10 and £15 million for their homegrown ability.
