15 players left Aston Villa on loan or permanently in the summer, while Ashley Young and Jed Steer left at the end of last season when their contracts ended.

Unai Emery is still putting his stamp on the squad he inherited from Steven Gerrard, and while he made five acquisitions of his own this summer, the club made almost £40 million in player sales. Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey, Jaden Philogene, Marvelous Nakamba, Keinan Davis, and Wesley are all gone for good.

Here’s a rundown of every player that left Villa during the summer transfer window…

The striker joined Sheffield United in a £18.5 million move last month, although Villa have kept some control over his future by negotiating a buy-back clause. Archer scored in the Blades’ 2-2 draw with Everton at Bramall Lane on his Premier League debut.

Ramsey joined Burnley for £14 million despite not making a single league appearance for the club after progressing through the development ranks like his brother, Jacob. The 20-year-old has appeared in two games for the Clarets in all competitions, coming off the bench in last month’s 3-1 home defeat to Villa.

Philogene made his debut for Hull City last week after joining the Championship team in a £5 million move. Villa has also preserved the option to repurchase him in the future.
Davis departed Villa Park permanently after eight years to join Udinese. The 26-year-old cost the Serie A club up to £3 million. He has yet to make his professional debut.
Wesley has made six Championship appearances for Stoke since arriving on a one-year agreement from Villa. The Brazilian made 26 games for Villa after becoming the club’s record signing in 2019, however a devastating knee injury ended his career prematurely.
