Jefferson Lerma and Marc Guehi have both been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Aston Villa due to international difficulties.

“[Lerma] had a scan this morning so I can’t give any details, but it’s to do with his hamstring,” Palace manager stated. I’m not sure how serious it is.

“He played two 90-minute games and traveled to Colombia, Chile, and England first.” He didn’t return until late in the morning on Thursday. He went immediately to the training facility here to meet the medical team and report that he had a little hamstring problem. He went for the scan today.

“I’m hoping it’s also the result of two times 90 minutes and the travel involved, and that’s the risk you take when you decide to bring in a South American international player.”

“The same is true for African players.” We want them on our squad and think they’re good players. We must realize that when they go overseas to play, their travel durations and hassles are far worse than those experienced by Europeans.”

As previously reported, Guehi will miss the encounter at Villa Park due to a hip injury sustained while on international duty with England.

As a result, Rob Holding might make his Crystal Palace debut in defense, with Chris Richards battling for a starting spot and James Tomkins unavailable.

“He’s likely to miss the game,” Hodgson said.

“It’s a problem that we believe can be easily managed, or that he isn’t overly concerned about, but the game has unfortunately come too soon.” We could have gotten him fit in ten days, or even four or five, but I’m afraid the day’s training he did today wasn’t enough time.”It’s a small annoyance. It’s only that the impact injury aggravated it enough that he can’t play in this game. It hasn’t happened because he’s trained and played two matches for England. It’s because he hurt his hip in the game against Scotland, which has regrettably exacerbated this slight ailment he plays with every week.”

There is no formal timetable for Michael Olise’s recovery after what Hodgson characterized as a “very serious” hamstring injury, while Matheus Franca is still a few weeks away from training.
