Cooper wants to see the 25-year-old succeed in the Premier League after he excelled at PSV Eindhoven.

“We only saw him train on Friday for the first time having just returned from international duty, so it’s nice to meet him properly,” he said before of Monday’s game against Burnley.

“We are excited to work with him; he has undeniable talent and fits the profile of the midfielder we were looking for.”

“It’s been a long process getting him here, but we’re thrilled he chose us over so many other clubs, and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”

Forest will play Burnley again after losing to them in the Carabao Cup last month.

“We didn’t cover ourselves in glory last time out against Burnley, and I didn’t enjoy the performance at all,” Cooper added, “so there’s always bits to learn from.”

“Sometimes the best way to learn is through bad games and tough moments, and that certainly wasn’t one of them.”

“I’m not sure if that will have an effect on Monday.” We’ll just be concerned with ourselves and how we commit to the strategy we believe is best for the game. If we do that, we have a decent probability of getting the desired outcome.”
