Alan Hutton reports that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou won’t face any pressure from Daniel Levy or the Spurs board if his team fails to qualify for the Champions League this year.

With a game remaining against Unai Emery’s club, Spurs are currently five points behind Aston Villa in fourth place in the Premier League. The two teams will square off at Villa Park on Sunday, March 10.

Should enough English teams advance in Europe this season to increase England’s coefficient points, a fifth-place result might be sufficient to qualify for the Champions League this season; however, losses for West Ham and Brighton have dashed such ambitions.

Rumors continue to imply that Postecoglou would be the ideal replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, and as a result, the Australian player may be leaving Spurs, but Hutton doesn’t think Levy will be ready to let go just yet.

“He’s only just in the door and he’s turned things around quickly,” Hutton told Tottenham News.

“Of course, they will be disappointed if they don’t make the top four, that’s just a given and that will be their aim at the start of every season. But I’ve got a feeling that if they don’t get it this season, it won’t be the worst thing in the world because they are building something and it does take time.

“Everyone can see what Ange is trying to do and all the fans for the first time in a long a number of years are really happy, so I think they’ll stick by him.

“They will want to rebuild and want to progress and I think he will if he gets the funds to be able to bring in the players that he wants, I think they could be a really strong team next season as well.”

Would Ange Postecoglou be sacked if Tottenham missed out on the Champions League?

Postecoglou has been a revelation since arriving in North London and the Australian has transformed the entire club both off and on the field while quickly becoming a very popular figure at Tottenham.

Although fans would be furious if he was fired, Levy’s management of the football team depends heavily on revenue, so losing out on the Champions League to a team like Villa would be concerning.

With any luck, Spurs will win at Villa Park, maintain that momentum until the conclusion of the season, and secure a spot in the competition the following year. In this manner, any rumors regarding Postecoglou’s future can be dispelled before they even get a chance to start.

Hutton has indicated that talks have already taken place to guarantee Werner’s long-term future at Spurs.
