Jermain Defoe has shared which Tottenham Hotspur player he would happily pay money to watch, insisting that he is always likely to do something in games.
It has certainly not been boring at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season. Ange Postecoglou has captured the imagination with his brand of football. And Spurs are very much in the conversation for a top four spot in the Premier League.
Given that they lost one of their best players ever on the eve of the season, their accomplishment is even more astounding. However, a lot of people have stepped up since Harry Kane left.
James Maddison is praised by Jermain Defoe
And James Maddison has been among the most remarkable players to wear a Tottenham shirt. Prior to sustaining an injury in the first part of November, Maddison was perhaps the greatest player in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old still seems to be regaining his full mental faculties. However, Jermain Defoe emphasized in a Football Firsts interview how much he loves the offensive midfield player.
“Maddison, like when I watch Madders play, like you said, you would pay money to watch these players because you know they’ll always do things in the game that make you go ooh. Yeah, I like that,” he said.
Maddison is one of those players who always gives your team a chance. He has the potential to make things happen out of nowhere. And he is someone who is always showing for the ball when his side need a moment of magic.
There is absolutely no question that he has been an outstanding signing for Tottenham since joining from Leicester City in the summer.
He has been directly involved in 10 goals in 15 Premier League games. And you would imagine that he is only going to add to that tally as the campaign continues, particularly now that Tottenham have Heung-min Son back from international duty.
Spurs have been underwhelming in recent weeks. So they need their star players to step up and help rediscover the form they showed at the start of the season.
Maddison is definitely one of those who will relish the challenge.
