Both in and out of the park, Brendan Rodgers is demonstrating his box office worth.
There were, understandably, some people who were unsure about the Irishman’s comeback when Celtic named Brendan Rodgers manager for a second time in June 2023 for apparent reasons, but one thing is for certain—we have a manager who is box office, both on and off the field.
That has been demonstrated on the field, where despite a few underwhelming performances this season, we remain the best team in the nation and are currently sitting in our customary spot at the top of the league, staring down on the Rangers.

Brendan has established his dominance not just within the park but also outside of it. Though Ange Postecoglou’s tough-gumming days in front of the media pack are long gone, Brendan is still capable of handling them in his own unique style. That was demonstrated the other day when he was questioned over a VAR incident that occurred during the Scottish Cup match versus Buckie and might have led to a Celtic spot kick.
Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that Liel Abada was in fact offside during the build-up, hence there was no case to answer. Brendan accepted the decision as correct and had no complaints about the eventual result. Rather, he delivered a knockout punchline by using the much-maligned VAR system’s process as the backdrop for the season’s best delivery, combining comic genius with wit.
Brendan said: “ if it’s offside then the penalty doesn’t even matter…as we know!” and just like that Brendan had infuriated the SMSM and the Rangers supporters. It was a wonderful piece of trolling by the Irishman, absolutely genius from the Celtic manager.
A few short words was all it took to upset a great deal of people and to make the point that their penalty claim on 30 December didn’t matter a jot because IT WAS OFFSIDE. Brendan is well and truly back, and he is box office.
