More negotiations between Sunderland and Barnsley midfielder Callum Styles are expected to take place over the course of the following day, as reported by the Northern Echo.

Styles was left out of Barnsley’s 1-0 win over Oxford United amidst the speculation over his future. Barnsley boss Neill Collins confirmed that the club are in talks to sell the midfielder in the ongoing winter transfer window.

Sunderland are the ones who are pushing to get a deal over the line and take the 23-year-old to the Stadium of Light. It has been claimed that the two clubs are closing in on an agreement for Styles’ transfer to Wearside in the coming days.

Over the next 24 hours, Sunderland and Barnsley are expected to continue their negotiations on a possible deal that would see Styles join the Championship team on an initial loan with an obligatory buy clause.

The 23-year-old is eager to transfer, and Sunderland plans to finalize the deal shortly.

Birmingham City are also interested in Styles but are unlikely to have the financial latitude to compete with Sunderland.
