This month, Southampton has already made a Premier League acquisition when they signed Joe Rothwell, a central midfielder from rival Bournemouth. According to sources, they have now taken another step toward acquiring an attacking alternative from England’s premier league as Russell Martin tries to obtain an advantage in the Championship’s race for automatic promotion.

Rothwell is signed by Southampton

Southampton Director of Football Jason Wilcox said on the Saints’ official website that he has signed midfielder Joe Rothwell on a season-long loan. “Joe is a quality addition who gives us further strength and depth in the squad, which will be particularly important as the season goes on,” Wilcox said. It gives us great pleasure to have a player with his caliber and experience join us.

Rothwell, meanwhile, expressed his satisfaction on the team’s website, saying, “I’m grateful to Southampton for allowing me to come here.” I’m hoping that by entering and sharing my knowledge of this league, I might assist them in crossing over. I’m eager to get started and put on my boots in the hopes that we can return the club to its rightful place.

The Saints wasted no time in focusing on a possible addition after acquiring their first signing of the month. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims that Southampton has made Burnley a second offer for Manuel Benson. According to reports, the winger, who wants to transfer to St Mary’s on a loan-to-buy deal, is being pursued by the promotion hopefuls.

Martin will be happy to receive any assistance if his team can catch up to Kieran McKenna’s team in the upcoming months, as they are now only three points behind Ipswich Town in second place in the Championship.

Benson is “fantastic” at replicating Burnley’s surge at Southampton.

Benson, who was instrumental in Burnley’s Championship title victory the previous season, may yet get the opportunity to demonstrate his ability to make an impact in the second division by joining Southampton. With 12 goals and three assists in the Championship, Benson’s numbers speak for themselves as a player at the height of his game the previous season. It might be argued that the winger needs Southampton just as much as they need him now that he has made only four appearances in the Premier League due to his struggles to adjust.

Vincent Kompany summed up Benson’s quality with his praise after the Belgian’s goal in a victory over Bristol City last season. The Clarets manager said:

“He’s got to score five in a row. It’s not a coincidence; it’s a skill he’s got. It’s the same as a striker being able to peel off to the back post and head it in. I can’t be handing solutions of how to deal with him, but it’s just the things he’s been doing since he was a kid. I’m still pushing him for tap ins- I want tap ins. In the end it’s something he’s comfortable doing and he will get goals that way. What he’s done for us is fantastic and from our side, that’s all we want.”
