One of the unresolved rumors from this transfer window has been Ivan Toney to Arsenal, and Fabrizio Romano recently provided an update on the matter.

Since the start of the window, Toney has been connected to a move to the Gunners. The striker for Brentford, who is drawing interest, is expected to return from suspension this month.

Toney has acknowledged that he believes he owes Brentford money. The Bees have also placed a hefty price on his head in the interim.

Speaking about the circumstances tonight, Fabricio Romano stated that Arsenal will not be signing Toney at this time.

Updates on Ivan Toney and Arsenal are shared by Fabrizio Romano.

Romano shared some disheartening news with Arsenal supporters during his most recent Here We Go Podcast, which focused on Toney and the Gunners.

“I don’t think it’s going to be a concrete or realistic target for Arsenal in the January window. Not just for Arsenal, though. But also for other clubs. In this case the most likely outcome is going to be a summer move for Ivan Toney. Because Brentford want crazy money. They started with a nasty price around £65-70m, now, with Osimhen not on the market, Brentford have changed the asking price to around £90-100m and it is too much for Arsenal. In case they have some outgoings we’ll see what happens but I think it’s very unlikely,” Romano said.

Arsenal knows deep down they can’t obtain Toney because players like Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe, both marketable assets, are still with the team.

It appears like it’s time to move on and give January’s top target to someone else for the time being.

Arsenal still needs a striker, and they need one now, as soon as possible, to enable them contend for the championship.

Soon enough, summer will arrive, and at that point, it’s possible that the Gunners will formally pursue Toney.
