Since Bryan Gil “is not going to make it at Tottenham,” John Wenham feels that Bryan Gil should be sold permanently as opposed to being sent out on loan.

Gil has struggled ever since arriving in the Premier League two and a half years ago and has spent most of his Spurs career out on loan in La Liga, first with Valencia and then his previous team Sevilla.

Fabrizio Romano reported on January 9 via his personal X account that Fiorentina and Feyenoord are interested in signing the out-of-favor winger on loan for the January transfer window.

Wenham responded to this statement by saying that the Spaniard should not make a temporary transfer.

“Gil is an obvious one for me to leave the club,” Wenham stated in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News. But I fail to see the purpose of him taking out a second loan overseas.

“Some people have said to me that a loan move would increase his value and the chances of him moving on permanently, but I don’t see how.

“He literally went out on loan last year, won the UEFA Europa League with Sevilla and played a really good part in that, and it still didn’t lead to a permanent move.

“Unfortunately, it looks like he is not going to make it at Tottenham, I think we’re at that crossroads now, and I just think the club need to sell him, even if it’s quite a low initial fee, but there’s huge add-ons involved, that could perhaps work for a Spanish club.

“He needs to go, I just don’t see him getting the game time, especially when Manor Solomon comes back from injury and obviously with Timo Werner now able to play in the exact same position as him.”
