Premier League analyst David Prutton praised Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson for his efforts in the team’s second goal on Friday night.

With a 2-1 victory away at Crystal Palace, Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham moved five points clear atop the Premier League standings.

Following a goalless first half, James Maddison’s pass into the six-yard box beat Joel Ward and found its way into the Palace goal to give Spurs the lead in the 53rd minute.

Then, in the 66th minute, Tottenham extended their lead thanks to a combination from Maddison and Johnson, who finished brilliantly before setting Son Heung-min up to score.

Prutton was impressed with all three players’ play. What a goal, he said to the Premier League website. From beginning to end, it’s breathtaking.

“Brennan Johnson heavily contributed to the build-up, executing a lovely, late one-two with James Maddison and rolling across the box for Son to tap in.

“The Spurs manager has set a goal of genuine quality, inventiveness, vigor, and excitement to advance with effective substitutions.”

After Jordan Ayew chested the ball down and fired past Guglielmo Vicario in injury time, Palace scored. VAR took a while to confirm the goal.

Tottenham, nevertheless, managed to hold on and move five points clear atop the Premier League standings.
