Rangers and Hibernian have denounced graffiti in the Glasgow club’s stadium mocking the Ibrox disaster and the late Queen Elizabeth II

Sky Sports has seen photographs from the Ibrox away end but has decided not to share them due to the obscene nature of the graffiti and stickers, which also show sympathy for the IRA. This is coming in after Rangers trashed Hibs 4-0 at Ibrox on Saturday in manager Philippe Clement’s first game in command.

A Rangers representative expressed strong disapproval of the graffiti and stickers displayed by a portion of Hibernian supporters at Ibrox, underlining that these actions are condemned unequivocally. They stressed that the Ibrox Disaster stands as the darkest chapter in the club’s history, still affecting numerous families, and any form of mockery or celebration regarding such an event is deemed inappropriate, not only within football stadiums but also within society. Rangers expressed their willingness to collaborate with Hibernian in identifying those responsible.

On the other side, a spokesperson from Hibernian FC acknowledged the presence of intolerable graffiti and stickers in the away section at Ibrox, condemning the behavior of the individuals involved. The club pledged to work closely with Rangers to identify the culprits and promised to take the most severe actions available against anyone implicated. Hibernian FC also encouraged their supporters to share any information that could aid in identifying these individuals through the club’s contact email, ensuring that confidentiality will be strictly maintained.
