Tottenham is presently leading the league table after an outstanding start to their Premier League campaign.

Ange Postecoglou’s appointment has not only transformed the North London side into a formidable footballing force, but the Australian manager has also been able to extract the finest performance from the majority of his players. Players who had difficulty the previous season, like Yves Bissouma, have shown tremendous improvement this year.

Cristian Romero appears to have advanced to a new level in a similar manner. The 25-year-old was without a doubt Tottenham’s finest defender, but his play has improved when a strong defensive partner joined the team.

TalkSPORT was informed by well-known pundit Darren Ambrose that the Argentine international has changed appearances this season. Romero was previously overburdened with work and had to rely solely on himself, but these days he can rely on his equally impressive colleague, Micky Van de Ven. The finest performance from each player has been enhanced by the division of the defensive burden.

Furthermore, guys in the back four like Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie have proven to be fairly dependable.

“Romero seems a different player,” said Ambrose.

“He has got a partner with him that is on a level with him, he trusts him and they have got that partnership built up, with Udogie on the left and Porro on the right.”

Compared to last season, Tottenham has grown as a team. They have appeared to be a very formidable team, but it is unclear if they will be able to continue on their strong start and place highly this season.
