West Ham United have reignited their interest in the services of Wolves skipper Max Kilman ahead of the start of the transfer window.

The Sun reports that West Ham United plans to support new manager Julen Lopetegui throughout the next transfer window. With the appointment of the Spanish manager, they have rekindled their interest in Wolves captain Max Kilman, who may be one of the club’s first acquisitions.

Over the years, Kilman has been a particularly effective player for Wolves. Since joining the English club in the summer of 2018, he has only been stronger. This season, the 27-year-old center back has participated in every minute in the Premier League. For them, the captain has been among the most exceptional players.

While he is an integral part of their first team and his contract runs until the summer of 2028, cash-strapped Wolves could look to sanction his departure to raise funds. They could look for a fee close to £45 million.

Lopetegui’s arrival at the club has resulted in the London club reviving their interest in their long-term target Kilman. The Wolves defender has played under the Spanish manager back in the day and it could be one of the major reasons behind their pursuit.

The Hammers are in desperate need to reinforce their defence ahead of next season after having conceded 74 goals in the recently concluded Premier League season. They are looking for a defensive overhaul following injuries and the poor form of their centre-backs. Angelo Ogbonna is all set to leave the club with his contract expiring, they are looking to sell injury-prone Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd’s future is uncertain.

As a result, the Hammers are pushing for multiple defensive signings. and Kilman is one of their top targets. He could be one of their biggest signings of the upcoming window with West Ham expected to back the new manager.
