Kieran McKenna, the manager of the Ipswich team, could soon be driving the Chelsea and Manchester United transfer battle.

Kieran McKenna, the manager of the Ipswich team, could soon be driving the Chelsea and Manchester United transfer battle. Sky Sports reports that United and McKenna’s agents met, which has made things more difficult for the Blues.

Kieran McKenna looks certain to leave after leading Ipswich Town to back-to-back promotions and a twenty-four-month ascent from League One to the Premier League, but it’s unknown where he will end up at this time.

The Red Devils will decide on Erik ten Hag’s future following the FA Cup final. The option of firing the Dutchman will present McKenna. Chelsea’s managerial future seems to be influenced by the FA Cup finals as well.

Chelsea is certain that McKenna will pick them over United, although the Red Devils are well-connected to the highly sought-after coach. Before going it alone, McKenna served as both their youth academy coach and an occasional first-team assistant.
McKenna became well-known in the football world despite never having held a high managerial position. In his first season as a senior team manager, he has a 57% victory percentage and was chosen as the 2023–24 Championship Manager of the Season.

Chelsea sees the Ipswich manager as a worthy contender to take over as head coach of their team. In addition, he meets Todd Boehly’s transfer requirements because he is only 38 years old and might help the Blues in the long run.

The sudden departure of Pochettino has diverted all the transfer priorities of the club towards signing a new manager this summer. While they have a few necessary changes to make in the squad, they cannot move ahead with them until they get themselves a new boss first.

Chelsea needs to make their interest more concrete as soon as possible, as they would not like to lose such a talented candidate to the Red Devils. It will be intriguing to see where the Ipswich boss lands this summer, with two Premier League giants lining up for him.
