Anthony Gordon, a winger for Newcastle United, has already expressed his opinions about one of Eddie Howe’s team’s top summer transfer targets.

Newcastle United, led by Eddie Howe, is set to have another busy summer as they prepare to travel to Europe once more—this time in the Conference League—and aim to bolster their roster even further.

Since Dan Ashworth took over as Newcastle’s owner, the transfer window has moved far more smoothly than it did under Mike Ashley.

Though HITC reports that Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman was the Geordie team’s top choice, Ashworth has pledged his future to the Eagles, so it’s possible that he’s headed to Manchester United.

Gordon’s verdict on potential new signing

Despite the upheaval behind the scenes, it seems the club have already set out their plans for the summer with a report from The Telegraph stating that West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen and Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin are top targets.

Well, one of these players who could well link up with Calvert-Lewin is Anthony Gordon and he has already gained the seal of approval from the former Everton winger.

During the early days of his Toffees career, the Englishman described Calvert-Lewin as a top forward to the Everton website.

“I have to [do extra]… to match the likes of Dom and Richarlison,” Gordon said. “They are top finishers, two top players in the Premier League and on great runs of form.

“They have both scored a lot of goals this season and I am just trying to match what they do.”

Despite the injury problems that Calvert-Lewin has had over the last few seasons, moving North to Tyneside could well be the change that the forward has needed to kick start his career again.

In fact, because of his injury problems, Newcastle may well be able to get a good deal on the signing of the striker and his prowess in the air would offer something to different to that of Alexander Isak.

A potential English front three of Gordon, Bowen and Calvert-Lewin would certainly be a fascinating prospect at St James’ Park and could well be done for a reasonable price, too.
