BBC PUNDIT: £200,000-A-WEEK PLAYER HAS RIGHT TO REFUSE TO JOIN WEST HAM

Charlie Adam has said that central defender Harry Maguire’s decision to forego joining David Moyes’ West Ham United during the summer transfer window was the correct one.

Harry Maguire made the right decision to stay at Manchester United and compete for a spot in the team rather than transfer to West Ham United, according to the former Liverpool midfielder, who was speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Harry Maguire was sought after by West Ham United from Manchester United.
The £200,000 per week (SalarySport) England international center defender was heavily linked to West Ham, who won the UEFA Europa Conference League the previous season.

On August 18, Sky Sports reported that West Ham and Manchester United have reached a £30 million agreement for Maguire.

On August 15, The Guardian revealed that the defender had actually reached a personal agreement with the Hammers.

The England international apparently was unable to reach a settlement with Manchester United and ultimately decided against moving to London Stadium.

Harry Maguire verdict from Charlie Adam
“I believe Harry Maguire and McTominay could have joined West Ham,” Adam stated.

But in the end, if it is not suitable for the athlete, they won’t go, will they?

“Obviously, they won’t leave if they believe they are talented enough to rejoin the club or the squad.

They won’t simply be pushed through the door because your manager told you to leave.

“You battle for your position. It is simple to give up.

In our opinion, Harry Maguire ought to have given a summer transfer to West Ham United, possibly on a loan basis, considerable consideration.

Under Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, the 30-year-old is unlikely to see a lot of action.

It is obvious that Ten Hag does not believe that Maguire is capable of playing every single week.

Only 23 minutes have been played by Maguire in the Premier League so far this year.

For the Red Devils past season, the former star of Leicester City made eight starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League.
