West Ham United beat Luton Town 3-1 on Saturday, and an ecstatic Tomás Souček scored his seventh Premier League goal of the season to guarantee David Moyes received the fitting send-off at London Stadium.

After a lackluster first forty-five minutes, in which West Ham had few and far between chances, the Hammers came out stronger in the second half and overcame their one-goal deficit with to goals from George Earthy, Souček, and James Ward-Prowse.

Riding the enthusiasm of the home crowd after Ward-Prowse’s goal on minute 54, the Czech international struck a fantastic left-footed volley from the edge of the penalty area to severely damage Luton’s prospects of surviving.

During Moyes’s second spell at the Club, Souček was among his first permanent recruits. He has been an Irons midfield fixture during their recent successful campaigns.

The 29-year-old, accompanied by his family, gave a final tribute to the home crowd this season during the team’s lap of appreciation and thought back on his time learning under the management.

He declared: “The manager has elevated this Club to a new level during his four and a half, or almost five, years here. We’ve won a cup, finished in excellent places, and even managed to qualify for the European quarterfinals this season.

“I scored this crucial goal for our supporters, but the manager deserves more credit because it’s his final game at home.

“I’m so happy for him. We have to thank him for what he’s done and now we are happy to celebrate with the supporters.”

The Hammers’ dominant second-half display came after a disappointing away performance at Chelsea last time out.

Commenting on the collective eagerness to put things right, Souček was delighted to give the home fans something to cheer about and finish the season on a high note.

He added: “It’s so important [to bounce back like this]. I’m so happy with the performance and the way we turned it around. There’s still one game to go, but this is the perfect way to finish at home!

“You can see what it means to the supporters and we are so grateful for their backing.”
