The Sunday Mirror reports that Crystal Palace and Brighton are preparing to sabotage West Ham United’s attempt to sign Corinthians winger Wesley Gassova.

The newspaper said in print on Sunday, May 12, on page 51, that the Irons are trying to come to a deal to sign the 19-year-old wonderkid after Corinthians rejected their initial proposal of £13 million.

It is said that the Brazilian team is seeking add-ons in addition to at least £20 million for the left winger.

According to The Sunday Mirror, Wesley’s agent Clovis Henrique has traveled to Europe, and both Palace and Brighton have made inquiries about a summer trade, while West Ham continues to pursue a signing of Wesley.

Is this update genuine? Or is it a ploy being made by someone to speed West Ham up into paying Corinthians more money for Wesley?

It seems likely that it’s the latter because we’ve seen a few reports about West Ham’s interest in the Brazilian teenager now and only with the summer approaching and an opening bid failing have other clubs been mentioned.

Palace and Brighton might well have eyes on the 19-year-old talent but it could be getting used against the Hammers to solidify their move in the coming weeks.

Wesley seems like an exciting prospect.

He has made 24 appearances for Corinthians in all competitions this season, with two assists and four goals.

Despite his age, he has some senior experience—he scored two of those goals in a 3-0 victory over Fluminense in the Brazilian Serie A at the end of last month.

As the summer transfer window approaches, let’s observe how this plays out.
