A first-round pick for projected new manager Julen Lopetegui has been made by West Ham United. The Scotsman is expected to succeed David Moyes when he departs on June 30.

West Ham agree terms with Lopetegui as Moyes exit confirmed

The four years of Moyes’ remarkable second spell at the London Stadium will come to an end when his contract expires, as the Hammers have now formally acknowledged.

During his tenure, Moyes has cemented his legacy as one of the club’s most successful ever coaches and a legend in his own right. The 60-year-old steered West Ham away from relegation in 2019/2020, going on to achieve qualification for Europe in each of his full seasons in charge thereafter till now.

Reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League in 2021/2022, Moyes guided West Ham to a Conference League triumph in Prague one year later – putting an end to the club’s four-decade-long wait for a piece of major silverware.

However, supporters have grown dissatisfied with their side’s style of football lately, and you can’t forget that West Ham’s league form has been subpar. They flirted with the drop for much of 2022/2023, and have lost by four or more goals on multiple occasions across all competitions this term.

Because of this, West Ham has reportedly reached an agreement with Lopetegui for a managerial change. This has been confirmed by credible media sources. It appears that the Spaniard, who departed Wolves at the beginning of the current campaign, will succeed Moyes.

Although Lopetegui is virtually certain to become West Ham’s next head coach, the club won’t make the announcement until after the season (Malik Ouzia, Standard Sport). The tactician’s first season will be extremely significant since Moyes is a difficult act to replace.

The summer transfer window for West Ham will be important as well because a large number of the team is aging, in contract, or being linked to a high-profile summer departure. Under the direction of technical director Tim Steidten, the east Londoners are keen to improve their offensive possibilities.

West Ham offered £52 million forward Vitor Roque

West Ham is reportedly among the many teams being offered Barcelona forward Vitor Roque, according to The Boot Room.

After a season of few opportunities following his sale to Barca for almost £52 million, agents have reportedly contacted West Ham to inform them of Roque’s availability for a loan this summer.

“He is a young man full of promise and a promising future. When it comes to Roque, Barça wins a lot and signs a great football player, according to Brazil Under-20s coach Ramon Menezes.

He is an extremely skilled player that plays and attacks spaces with great intelligence. He is gifted, very quick, and very goal-oriented.

It appears that if West Ham decides to make a formal move, the 19-year-old has a lot to offer Lopetegui.
