On Monday night, the Braves and Reynaldo Lopez take on the Red Sox at Truist Park.

The Atlanta Braves return home for a short two-game series with the Boston Red Sox. The Braves are coming off a disappointing 1-5 road trip where they could not solve the Mariners and Dodgers.

Seeing offensive struggles from a team that dominated in 2024 has been tough. They have experienced a bit of bad luck but have also fallen victim to poor approaches at the plate. That needs to change if they have any chance of getting the division lead back. They are currently 3 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies.

The team is lucky to have two of their best pitchers going this series to give them the best chance of getting back on the right track. However, that all means nothing if the offense cannot score runs.

Let’s check out the starting lineups and pitchers for tonight’s game.

Probable starting pitchers

With the second-best ERA in MLB, Kutter Crawford (2-1, 1.56 ERA) has surprised everyone by going deep into games for Boston. With 40 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched, 13 walks, and just seven earned runs allowed. In his previous appearance against the Giants, Crawford pitched seven innings, gave up four hits, two runs, two walks, and six strikeouts.

Reynaldo López (2-1, 1.50 ERA) has shown the Braves were smart to have him in the rotation as he has had an unbelievable start for Atlanta. Despite having a 1.50 ERA, he did not reach the innings necessary to be considered as the second-best ERA among all starting pitchers. But we would be negligent if we did not mention his outstanding ERA.

His last start against the Mariners wasn’t his best but he still completed five innings allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He will hopefully be able to continue this early success against Boston tonight.
