Everton has every right to be vindictive following this most recent PSR fiasco, in which they have already lost two more points.

Even though the penalties should finally be lifted, at least for this season, many supporters and perhaps the players—who continue to see their advancements erased from the Premier League standings—remain bitter about it.

Fortunately, they still have a good chance of surviving, and Sean Dyche should be able to guide this ship to safety given the current string of games.

They now also have one prominent pundit’s support.

Simon Jordan predicts the relegation outcome again

Speaking in real time yesterday morning on talkSPORT (09/04, 10:08 am), the former chairman of Crystal Palace was initially anxious to make sure that, even if Farhad Moshiri bore the majority of the guilt, he was not a total lightning rod for criticism.

After all, he listed additional players who have contributed to Everton’s consistent decline before revealing an astonishing prediction about how the team may do in the upcoming weeks as a result of the points punishment.

But after that, he calmed down and tried to project how the relegation struggle would pan out, understandably concentrating on the Toffees for the time being.

“I still think Everton will avoid relegation,” Jordan wrote. When former Everton players like Andros Townsend, who appear to have forgotten they were ever members of that team, make comments about how they feel like they receive a lift…

“If Luton Town’s only chance of remaining in the division is if other teams are punished for offenses you weren’t involved in, then you weren’t in this league, and the sporting merit that other teams can rightfully complain about that Everton has received isn’t the same for loot and because Luton wasn’t there.”

Townsend had implied that the experience had turned the division into a “mockery.”

Everton are still in the strongest position to achieve safety

They are still in danger even though they are now in the thick of the five-team competition for the final and third relegation slot in the Premier League, sitting at 16th.

After all, just one win for Nottingham Forest and Luton Town would plunge them into the bottom three.

However, the Toffees are blessed with a far more favourable fixture list than most, given they face the bulk of these rivals at home.

Forest, Brentford and Sheffield United all have to come to Goodison Park, whilst a trip to Luton Town represents a nervy end to the season.

However, their position may offer them the advantage over these other teams, in addition to a somewhat larger goal differential that may be significant in what has been a very close match up to this point.
