The season’s first home start for Reynaldo Lopez will come against New York on Tuesday.

As they resume a four-game series against the New York Mets on Tuesday night, the Atlanta Braves will be trying to get back on the winning track. Atlanta’s Reynaldo Lopez will start his second game of the season, while righty Adrian Houser will start for the Mets.

The Braves lost 8-7 on Monday night in their opening game. The Mets took an 8-5 lead in the eighth inning after hitting Atlanta’s bullpen with three runs. Atlanta rallied, as they did on several occasions during this homestand, but lost in the ninth inning.

The possibility of a season-ending injury for Spencer Strider makes Lopez’s place in the Braves rotation even more crucial. In his season debut in Chicago, Lopez proved up to the challenge, pitching six innings and giving up just one run and four hits while striking out five.

Houser spent seven seasons with the Brewers before he was acquired by the Mets along with outfielder Tyrone Taylor in December. Houser pitched well in his season debut allowing three hits and one run over five innings against the Tigers. He has six career appearances (five starts) against the Braves in his career and has a 4.88 ERA in 27 23 innings. In two appearances at Truist Park, Houser has allowed 11 hits and six runs in 6 23 innings.
