Leeds United could miss out on an £11m financial boost as Borussia Monchengladbach reportedly made a decision of on-loan Whites defender Max Wober.

The former RB Salzburg and Sevilla defender joined Leeds in a £9m deal in January 2023 but was unable to help the Elland Road outfit avoid relegation from the Premier League. After receiving interest from a number of clubs last summer, Wober made a season-long loan move for Monchengladbach and has endured mixed fortunes during his time in Germany.

Speaking after completing his move to the Bundesliga club, Wober said: “Borussia is an absolute traditional club that has always been very interesting for me and which I liked to watch, also because many Austrians played here. It is an extremely attractive task that I am very much looking forward to.”

This season, the Austrian international has made 24 appearances across all competitions, and it was generally anticipated that he would finalize a permanent move to Monchengladbach this summer for £11 million. After reevaluating their summer transfer intentions in the aftermath of their recent German Cup loss at the hands of Saarbrucken last month, the Bundesliga team reportedly believes they can get “better for less,” according to German publication Rheinische Post.

He said: “That’s (the speculation over Dieng) the nature of the beast. I don’t take too much interest in anything like that. We know the squad we’ve got, the players we’ve got and what they’re capable of. In terms of who is linked with who and what’s going on, it doesn’t bother me.”

Mark Robins has claimed Coventry City will have to improve on the stunning form that forced them into last season’s Championship play-offs if they are to claim a top six finish before the end of the current campaign.

The Sky Blues are one slot and four points off of the play-off spots with seven games left in the season, but they do have a game in hand on sixth-place Norwich City. Robins has stated that his team will not be satisfied with duplicating last season’s performance going forward, despite a key run-in ahead.

The former Manchester United striker stated ahead of Saturday’s home match against Leeds United: “We got 13 points from the last seven games, which took us to 70 points.” That won’t be sufficient. We have three more points than we did this time last year, so we need to put together a strong run to contend with the top six.”
