Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, was a desirable commodity in the NFL in 2022.

He guided his club to the Super Bowl, but it lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs after blowing a 10-point lead. He was runner-up to Mahomes for MVP of the regular season.

Hurts did, however, regress last season, as did the Eagles, who were humiliated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card stage of the playoffs.

In SPORTSRADIO 94WIP, NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger stated that Hurts “needs to be coached hard” to get back to his previous level of play this next season.

Hurts’ numbers in 2023 — 3,858 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, 605 rushing yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns — were excellent, but he threw 15 interceptions, compared to just six in 2022.

The Eagles won 10 of their first 11 games and were looking like arguably the best team in football, but they lost five of their next six games and were clearly limping into the playoffs.

As their descent took place, there were rumors that head coach Nick Sirianni had lost the locker room and that his job was in jeopardy.

The Eagles did give themselves a major shot in the arm this offseason by nabbing star running back Saquon Barkley, and while they traded away pass rusher Haason Reddick, they did bring in Bryce Huff, who is young and emerging.
