Tottenham have made their fair share of new signings since Ange Postecoglou took over as new manager in the summer.

The team moved to sign players during that window, including James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Brendan Johnson, and Micky van de Ven.

Daniel Levy supported his manager once more in January. In addition to Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall signing permanent contracts, Timo Werner arrived on loan.

Naturally, more new hires are anticipated throughout the summer. However, Glenn Hoddle argued that Tottenham is not far away, citing Van van Ven as an example of the talent in the area.

Glenn Hoddle says Tottenham defender is next to Virgil van Dijk as the best in the league

Former Tottenham manager Hoddle was speaking on the Chris Cowlin YouTube channel about all things Spurs.

And when asked about potential new signings, Hoddle used Van de Ven as an example of what Spurs need, insisting he’s in the top two in the league in his position.

“Obviously is there’s good players available and you can get them, I mean look at Van de Ven coming to the club. He’s obviously a bit injured at the moment but he looks as if, for me, if he didn’t get injured at the beginning of the season, he would be in most players’ Premier League side. Him and the guy at Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk, they’re the best two in the country. Funnily enough they’re both Dutch, so he’s a find he is. If we get a few more like that in different positions and a couple of wide men, then we aren’t far off it,” Hoddle said.

Micky van de Ven shining for Spurs

Look, if Glenn Hoddle is saying you are the business then you must be doing something right.

Micky van de Ven cost Spurs around £35m initially and already it looks like they’ve picked up a bargain really.

Tottenham have made some smart moves in the last few windows. Like Van de Ven, the likes of Maddison and Romero have also been big hits, as has the goalkeeper Vicario.

The key now is for them to continue this run of good signings and add to the depth of the squad.

If they can indeed do that in the summer and tweak a few things tactically, then a title push in 24/25 might not be off the table for Tottenham Hotspur.
