Stephen Warnock has insisted that he absolutely loves Destiny Udogie, and lauded the Tottenham Hotspur left-back over one ‘absolutely incredible’ statistic.

Spurs produced one of their best halves of football this season on Sunday. Ange Postecoglou’s side absolutely blew Aston Villa away to win 4-0 at Villa Park and strengthen their push for a top-four spot.

In truth, it would have been difficult to pick out a man of the match. Heung-min Son scored one and set up two more. Meanwhile, Pape Matar Sarr produced an unbelievable cross for the opening goal.

Destiny Udogie incredible in emphatic Tottenham win

But Destiny Udogie also has to be in contention. What Postecoglou does with his full-backs leaves many mesmerised. And Udogie was absolutely back to his best against the Villans.

He completed two dribbles, misplaced just one of his 59 passes and made five interceptions, according to Whoscored.

And speaking on The 2 Robbies podcast, Stephen Warnock insisted that he could not praise the £21 million youngster any higher – particularly when it concerns running with the ball at his feet.

“I love the full-backs, the way they play. I love Udogie,” he said.

“Both full-backs I’ve seen at times, I’m thinking, they’re playing in a number 10 or the striker position. It’s phenomenal. It creates so much confusion with the opposition. Do we go back? What do we do?

“I mentioned something to you when we were off-air and we were chatting about them, Udogie’s had the most dribbles in midfield this season. It’s incredible. It’s absolutely incredible. But he’s got so much power, running with the ball.

“He’s arguably one of the best dribblers of the ball, because he glides past players and pushes it. He’s got that strong right arm just to brush people off. I love him, absolutely love him.”

Spurs have so much potential

There has definitely been a huge element of surprise about Tottenham this season. Many now forget just how quickly supporters wanted last season to end. Yet, Postecoglou has transformed the playing style with many of the same players.

Obviously, Udogie was not at Tottenham last season. But he was on the books. So obviously, there was a feeling at the time that he was not ready for the Premier League.

However, Udogie has been one of the league’s best left-backs this season. His potential appears to be frightening.

Aston Villa would have known exactly what Tottenham would do on Sunday. And yet, they were unable to contain them.
