Jamie O’Hara, a former Premier League player, thinks Kalvin Phillips is way behind the pace and is making West Ham United worse.

In the January transfer window, West Ham took a risk by signing Phillips from Manchester City on an initial loan.

In order to maximize his chances of making the England squad for Euro 2024, the midfield player is eager to be playing frequently.

He started for West Ham in their 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but had a day to forget with a poor performance ending in a sending off.

O’Hara thinks Phillips looks unfit and off the pace, meaning he cannot be considered for the Euro 2024 squad at the moment.

He even believes Phillips is making West Ham worse and said after full time on talkSPORT’s GameDay Live: “No, he can’t go to the Euros.

“He looks like he’s unfit, way off the pace.

“He gets sent off today, stupid, two yellow cards, mistiming tackles because he’s not been playing, he’s rusty.

“He’s miles off it.

“He’s gone there to get playing and actually he’s making West Ham worse.”

As a longtime fan of Phillips, West Ham manager David Moyes is counting on him to provide support for the Hammers over the remainder of the season.
