The loan agreement for Liverpool defender Nat Phillips with Celtic has been finalized.

The short-term contract that the 26-year-old has signed will keep him at Parkhead until January 2024.

The Scottish champions have suffered a string of center-back injuries, with Stephen Welsh, Maik Nawrocki, and Cameron Carter-Vickers all expected to miss the next eight weeks.

The club will enter the transfer market to fill squad deficiencies, manager Brendan Rodgers has acknowledged, and Phillips has been named as a target.

Prior to the window closing on Friday night, he has now finished leaving Anfield.

He went on to make 29 first-team appearances and one goal after leaving the Liverpool Academy.

Additionally, he has had successful loan stints with Bournemouth and the German team VfB Stuttgart.

I’m incredibly excited,” he added in a statement to Celtic TV. I became excited when I learned about the interest.

“I was really keen to get it over the line and I’m delighted to be here now,” the applicant said. “There were a few other options, but they didn’t quite make me feel the same as this one did.”

And when asked why Celtic was the best fit for him, the new Bhoy responded, “It’s the club’s heritage.

The club’s objectives, the level at which it competes, their participation in the Champions League this year, and their winning mindset all point to how big the club is.

“We’re thrilled to have Nat join Celtic and we’re looking forward to working with him in the months ahead,” Rodgers stated.

“It’s been well-documented that owing to a number of injuries we’ve faced, it was an area of the club we wanted to look at in the near term, so we’re happy that Nat will provide that defensive assistance in the squad.

“Nat comes to Celtic with the benefit of having played for another major club, Liverpool, and those experiences will be helpful to him.

I am aware that he is pleased with the decision and is eager to join the rest of the team here.

He will join winger from Honduras Luis Palma, who signed a five-year contract on Wednesday, in the starting lineup for Sunday’s match at Ibrox against Rangers.
