Numerous Playstation cues lead us to believe that the legendary video game’s cover could feature an Atlanta Braves infielder.

The Atlanta Braves have been getting a lot of love from the national media for what they did last season, whether it was Spencer Strider leading the league in strikeouts, the entire offense tying the single season home run record, or having an absurd 40/70 season that resulted in the NL Most Valuable Player trophy for Ronald Acuña Jr.

Well, with one notable exception.

In MLB Network’s “Top Ten Right Now” rankings, there was one player omitted from his positional rankings that we all expected to see in the list: Second baseman Ozzie Albies.

Despite a 4.7 WAR season where he batted .280/.336/.513 with 33 homers, 96 runs, and 109 RBIs, Ozzie Albies was somehow outside of the top ten in MLB Network’s rankings, while such luminaries as Andrés Giménez (.251 average with 15 homers, 76 RBIs, and 62 RBIs) and Zack Gelof with his 2.6 WAR made the list.

And it seems like PlayStation took that personally.

MLB The 2024 Show cover athlete will be revealed on Wednesday at 1:00 PM ET, and the teaser trailer suggests that Ozzie might be the winner, similar to what (ex) second baseman Jazz Chisholm did the season before.

So, to recap:

Ozzie’s autographed bat is visible in the edge of the final teaser shot, combined with the fact that Ronald’s already a cover athlete for both MLB Clutch Hit 2023 (a mobile game), as well as 2024 Topps Series 1, means that Ozzie might be the choice here.

We’ll have to wait until Wednesday to see if Ozzie gets the recognition he so rightly deserves as one of the most dynamic second basemen in the sport.
