According to a recent transfer update, Southampton is reportedly one of the teams that has put in an offer for a “incredible” Championship player.

With four straight league victories, Saints are currently leading the play-off race and putting a lot of pressure on Ipswich Town. They are currently only one point behind Russell Martin’s third-place team, and the tide appears to be turning in their favor.

They might get an advantage from new additions made during the January transfer window, but there isn’t much time left to complete some crucial deals. One target that has surfaced is Calvin Ramsay, a promising right-back from Liverpool. Southampton and Leeds United are reportedly vying for the right-back’s services.

Southampton make Callum O’Hare bid

According to a new update from HITC, Southampton and Leicester City have both made offers for Coventry City ace Callum O’Hare, with Premier League side Burnley also believed to be interested.

He has been linked to a January transfer to St Mary’s is Mihaly Kata, who Martin believes might expand his options. The Saints are also interested in Burnley’s Manuel Benson, although Leeds is once again a formidable rival for his services.

“HITC Football understands that, with just a week left in the January transfer window, play-off chasing Coventry are facing an almighty battle hanging onto one of the most talented footballers in England’s second tier.

“We have been told that Burnley have made an offer to bring Callum O’Hare – who learned his trade at Aston Villa before leaving in 2020 – back to the Premier League. Leicester City and Southampton, placed first and third in the Championship at present, have submitted bids of their own, with O’Hare yet to sign a new contract at the Coventry Building Society Arena.”

O’Hare has established himself over a lengthy period of time in the Championship, making him a potentially wonderful addition to Southampton this month. With 15 league games this season, he has five goals and 21 assists in 121 appearances in the competition; if not for injury issues, his total would probably be higher.

Following a victory over Birmingham City last month, Coventry boss Mark Robins spoke lyrical about the 25-year-old, demonstrating how much he is valued:

“I think he has been incredible because I mean looking back at Boxing Day last year and to see him was heart-breaking after the injury and then to see him come to terms with the injury and then go through that.”
When it comes to offensive midfield areas, O’Hare could be a huge asset to Southampton. If they can recruit him before the end of the month, that may give them an even bigger advantage in the Championship promotion picture.
