Burnley and Ajax are negotiating a loan agreement for Carlos Forbs, a winger, according to sources who spoke with Football Insider.

Forbs is highly regarded by Clarets manager Vincent Kompany, who is eager to get him to Turf Moor before the transfer window closes.
Negotiations are in progress on a deal that would see the wide player spend the remainder of the season on loan at Burnley.

However, Nottingham Forest and other Premier League competitors compete with the team.

After making an impression in City’s youth systems, Forbs left Manchester City to join Ajax last summer for approximately £10 million.

With 25 appearances across all competitions, the 19-year-old has contributed two goals and four assists for Ajax. Although the Portugal under-21 international is versatile, he is typically deployed as a right winger.

Burnley is anticipated to be active in the loan market this month and is unlikely to bring in any permanent recruits after a summer of hefty spending.

Forward David Datro Fofana, who was recalled from his season-long stint at Bundesliga side Union Berlin, has already been signed by them on loan from Chelsea.

They are currently trying to add Forbs to aid with their subpar goal output.

Only Sheffield United has a worse record in the Premier League this season than Kompany’s team, who have scored just 21 goals.

Burnley sit 19th in the Premier League table after their 1-1 draw against Luton Town on Friday 12 January.

They are next in action against Man City away at the Etihad on Wednesday 31 January.
