Ben Johnson of West Ham United has been linked to Leeds United in recent times.

Having let Luke Ayling and Djed Spence go this month, the Whites are reportedly searching for defensive reinforcements.

In addition, despite his ongoing battle for playing time, Leeds defender Charlie Cresswell is drawing praise from other teams.

The Athletic revealed last week that Johnson, who is presently having trouble getting minutes at the London Stadium, is the player the Whites are now considering.

The most recent information regarding Leeds and the 23-year-old Hammers full-back, whose contract expires in the summer, has been provided by Ben Jacobs.

“Ben Johnson is the other one on the list. So one of those two is possible,” wrote Jacobs.

“And again, Ben Johnson hasn’t seen that many minutes. He’s out of contract in the summer.

“But Leeds are in favour, I’m told, of not waiting until the summer, they want to move now. They would take Ben Johnson on a loan.

“So it’s just about whether or not they can agree terms because West Ham would want a fee, even though the player’s contract is running down.

“So I think if Leeds could move for Johnson and get a low fee, or somehow persuade West Ham for no fee, then they would move very fast.

“But there’s a few negotiation points to get that one over the line.”

Leeds is aiming for a “brilliant professional.” Ben Johnson

Johnson is an excellent player who has excelled in the Premier League, and he would undoubtedly be a better option for Leeds in the Championship.

Declan Rice penned “Ben Johnson, that is all” on X in 2021. In the same year, Stuart Pearce declared to BBC Sport that the 23-year-old is “a wonderful professional.”

Johnson is a versatile option for Farke because he can play both left and right back.

He’s not the only defender Leeds has their eye on this month, though.

According to GMS, Ryan Giles, Nico Williams, Connor Roberts, and Ben Davies are all reportedly being considered by Leeds as possible defensive additions.

We’ll see in the upcoming weeks what transpires. With the January transfer window ending in less than two weeks, the market might begin to gather up speed.
