Paul Merson makes predictions for Nottingham Forest’s matchup with Brentford in the Premier League in this week’s NottinghamshireLive news.

As the two teams get ready for combat, Paul Merson thinks that Brentford and Nottingham Forest are in a fight for relegation in the Premier League.

Under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, Forest has won its previous two league games, securing thrilling victories over Manchester United and Newcastle United. They now sit in 15th position in the standings after both wins, and they will be visiting the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Also, they have ranked them one spot and one point higher than Brentford. However, they can lose ground in the standings after the Premier League accused them of breaching financial regulations. Merson also thinks the Bees, who will win since they have great scorer Ivan Toney back in the lineup.

“This is pretty much a cup final and I think everyone will be watching this football match,” he told Sportskeeda. “The big story for Brentford is the return of Ivan Toney, who is set to make his first appearance of the season after his ban.

“Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with a move for the striker and I think both those teams will be watching to see if he’s still got it. I know he’s been training, but there is absolutely nothing like playing matches at the top level, so it remains to be seen if Toney makes a triumphant return for the Bees.

“He’s not really a leader of the same ilk as John Terry or Tony Adams, but he leads by example with his goals, like Harry Kane.

“These two teams are very much involved in the relegation dogfight, so they need to start putting points on the board. I think it’ll be a tight, nervy game like the clash between Burnley and Luton Town last weekend, but I fancy Brentford to get all three points.”
