The recent extreme heat, combined with increased humidity, has begun to take its toll.

It’s been so awful that even a few hours of gardening has proven impossible, and as for sleep, with no air conditioning and only a single fan to cool the room down, I’m only getting a few hours a night, which explains why I keep dozing off on the settee.

So, what can you look forward to today?

More sweltering heat, oppressive humidity, a few hours of sleep, and, miraculously, a scattering of EFL football.

Okay, it’s only a few League One fixtures plus a comprehensive League Two fixture list, but it’s a lifeline for me as I yearn for the return of Premier

League football and that second trip of the season to West London, this time to face a Fulham side that smashed us off the park the last time we met at Craven Cottage.
