There are more games to reschedule as a result of the FA Cup run, but Phil Parkinson is not worried because he observed how successfully Wrexham managed the hectic holiday season.

In Sunday’s cross-border derby at The Croud Meadow, Wrexham defeated Shrewsbury Town 1-0. The victory earned them a fourth-round match against Championship team Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday, January 27.

As a result, two more games, including the League Two matchup at home against Crawley Town, will need to be rescheduled.

The trip to MK Dons was canceled due to the Reds’ cup progress, and last month’s game against Forest Green Rovers was rescheduled due to a flooded field at The New Lawn.

Parkinson was happy with Wrexham’s performance during the recent stretch of four games in ten days over Christmas, as his players managed to secure nine points out of a possible twelve in the pursuit of a second consecutive promotion, despite the fact that there are still three fixtures to squeeze into the schedule.

“We will fit those games in,” said the Reds’ boss.

“With cup success, you do end up having to rearrange league games but that is part and parcel.

“Hopefully we have got players coming back from injury in the next week or so to boost the numbers in the squad.

“When you are a team who has played four games in 10 days over Christmas, three games in seven days which will happen as we go forward should be a lot more comfortable.

“We prepared a lot for that Christmas period on the training ground and I was very pleased how we came through that physically, particularly the fourth game against Barrow.

“The physical preparation and also the mental preparation will stand us in good stead as we go into what will be a busy period coming up after the next couple of weeks.

“That doesn’t concern us.”
