This is the gossip I have been eagerly awaiting. A player down the right side of the attack like Michael Olise is desperately needed by Manchester United.

The success of the Old Trafford team has been based on their wide players’ flair. Beckham, David. Ronaldo Cristiano. Giggs Ryan. To mention a few. That output from outside has stopped recently.

Antony is not up to par. Jadon Sancho has been banished from the starting lineup. Mason Greenwood has left, and with good reason.

The Standard reported this morning that one of United’s first acquisitions under Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be the up-and-coming 22-year-old Olise.

A move for the Crystal Palace man will not happen in January, though could take place in the coming summer.

Olise signed a four-year, £100,000-a-week contract in the summer, which does contain a release clause that comes into effect this coming summer.

The size of that clause is currently unknown, though it’s anticipated it’ll be significantly higher than the £35m release clause in his old contract.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is currently undertaking a full examination of the United side ahead of the summer, where hopefully, he’ll make plenty of money available to spend on transfers as this side looks to return to the top.

There can be no doubt that Olise would be a traditional United signing. A player who’d definitely help on that right-wing, having scored five goals in his seven starts since returning from injury in November.

Olise is special. There’s no doubt about that. I would assume that United will not be the only party interested in signing the England-born winger, who has represented France at youth level.
