According to Santi Aouna and Sebastien Denis, a deal has been made between West Ham and Monaco on the first loan of Thilo Kehrer, with an option for €10 million [£8.76 million] added.
On January 2, the journalists at Foot Mercato announced via Twitter that the Germany defender would be leaving the London Stadium, with the possibility of a permanent transfer for a little payment.
The 27-year-old has struggled for game time this season having only arrived at the London Stadium at the start of last term from Paris Saint-Germain.
An agreement was made between West Ham and AS Monaco for the loan of Thilo Kehrer with a buyout option, according to Nonda.
“Important information, Thilo Kehrer’s loan to AS Monaco includes a purchase option of approximately 10M €,” Denis continued.
Potential loss
The fact that the defender may depart for less than that despite making 50 appearances for the team is indicative of his declining status under David Moyes, having joined for £10.1 million plus add-ons from PSG a year and a half ago [Sky Sports].
Though he is said to have an upfront loan fee of €500,000 (£434,000), he has played significantly less this season after making 38 appearances in his Irons debut, including 27 in the top flight.
He has only appeared as a late substitute in four of the Premier League’s twelve games, seemingly making him disposable at the London Stadium.
Since he will need to replace the cover that the adaptable Kehrer provides, Moyes will probably be trying to enhance, even though neither way his budget will be significantly increased.
The summer transfer of Konstantinos Mavropanos crowded out the center defensive line, and the Germany international hasn’t been able to unseat Vladimir Coufal or Emerson at full-back.
