Everton have reignited their interest in Iliman Ndiaye ahead of January.

Iliman Ndiaye attracted a lot of interest across Europe in the summer after netting 14 goals and providing 10 assists as Sheffield United were promoted to the Premier League.

Everton were one club that made an attempt to sign the Senegal international as he looked set to leave Bramall Lane, with Fabrizio Romano reporting in July that ‘several’ Premier League clubs were interested.

However, Ndiaye eventually ended up completing a £20 million move to Marseille, where he spent some time as a child in their academy.

The 23-year-old has started 23 games across all competitions for Marseille, but has only scored one goal – coming in a 3-2 defeat to Monaco in September.

Despite his lack of goal contributions this term, Everton are said to still be keen on signing Ndiaye.

According to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, Ndiaye is still ‘popular’ in England and is of particular interest to The Toffees. However, Marseille are not open to offloading their summer signing.

The journalist has also claimed that Crystal Palace and Sheffield United are among the suitors ahead of the January transfer window.

The Sun reported earlier this month that Ndiaye’s lack of form for Marseille have put the three clubs on high alert for a loan move.

The attacking midfielder’s contract doesn’t expire until 2028, but the French club could potentially be tempted to allow him to leave temporarily to rediscover his eye for goal.

Should Everton try for Iliman Ndiaye again?

Iliman Ndiaye was comfortably one of the best players in the Championship last season, being named in the PFA Team of the Year, as well as picking up Sheffield United’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.

It was a huge surprise when he didn’t earn himself a big move to the Premier League, but he chose to return to France instead.

Ndiaye is only 23 years old and still has plenty of time to reach his potential, so bagging a loan move definitely wouldn’t be the worst idea for him.

If Marseille were willing, then Everton would be very sensible if they were to go in for their summer target.

Sean Dyche currently relies on Abdoulaye Doucoure as the most attacking midfield option, but his current absence leaves a big hole in their frontline.

Everton have looked much better going forward in recent months, but Ndiaye would likely take them a step forward.
