Following the acquisition of Fabio Silva, Barry Ferguson has pushed Rangers to add one Scottish Premiership striker to their roster.

When the January transfer market opens in a few days, Philippe Clement made the 20-year-old Portuguese forward his first acquisition for the Ibrox team.

Silva will contribute to the Rangers’ forward scarcity being lessened. Abdallah Sima will travel to represent Senegal in the African Cup of Nations in January, while Danilo and Kemar Roofe are out due to injuries.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, former Rangers captain Ferguson disagrees, saying Rangers should keep adding strikers to their lineup.

The only available and healthy No. 9 at the team is Cyriel Dessers, but Ferguson would prefer that Lawrence Shankland, who has 16 goals in 26 games for Hearts this season, be the one to challenge the Nigerian.

Ferguson urges £2m Shankland capture

Ferguson claims that Shankland’s former team would be foolish to pass on him from Hearts if Rangers could sign him for £2 million.

“It’s encouraging to see Rangers getting things started early, and I would fully expect another two or three players in,” Ferguson stated.
