Abdallah Sima has been a revelation for Rangers since joining on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, and he currently leads the club’s scoring chart.

The 22-year-old has 14 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions, helping the Gers close the gap on Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic, win the Viaplay League Cup, and advance to the Europa League knockout stages.

Rangers

Rangers are preparing to replace the probable vacuum left by the Brighton loanee with a loan agreement for Wolves’ Fabio Silva, which has now been confirmed in light of Fabrizio Romano’s most recent “here we go” declaration.

While the Gers are preparing for the worse and covering for any future injuries, Sima’s growth at Ibrox may be hampered by the new addition to the squad.

Despite being signed as a striker for a club-record fee of £35.6 million in 2020, Silva appears to enjoy playing on the left wing, and if Sima is away with Senegal, Silva may get a run of appearances and keep the Brighton man out of the team when he returns.

Rangers

With Kemar Roofe out with an injury this season and Danilo also out, it would be interesting to watch any of the two loanees play in the center of the field. Sima has already filled in there a few times this season, including a goal against Real Betis at Ibrox.

When Philippe Clement has all of his attackers at his disposal, he will have to make difficult decisions; Sima or Silva will almost certainly be demoted to the bench to make room for more experienced Rangers players.

If the deal is announced, Sima’s second half of the season will be in the hands of the Wolves man, with the two presumably competing for the same position. This might stymie either of their advancements, or both.
