Enzo Maresca’s Foxes will attempt to bolster their squad during the upcoming transfer window as they aim to win the Championship championship in style.

Leicester City returned to winning ways away at West Bromwich Albion last weekend, with Harry Winks scoring at the death to secure a 2-1 win for Enzo Maresca’s Foxes over a foolish Baggies squad that was caught exposed at the back after equalizing.

That was only the Foxes’ second win in their previous five Championship games, with the table toppers showing chinks in their armour after an incredible nine-game winning streak earlier in the season.

Maresca may well beg the powers that be at the King Power Stadium to spend big in the forthcoming January transfer window to aid Leicester’s promotion push, with the Midlands club likely needing some fresh blood to further establish that top spot as properly theirs.

Here are three fantasy signings Leicester may make this January to cement their first-place position, including a shock move for a Liverpool transfer target…

Lucas Beraldo

Leicester City may look to secure more than one defensive addition in January, with Sao Paulo center-back Lucas Beraldo emerging as a potential target for the Championship side. The Foxes are reportedly competing with other Premier League clubs, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea, and Liverpool, in the pursuit of the Brazilian defender. Acquiring Beraldo, even at a possible cost of £17m, would be a bold move by Maresca to reinforce the team’s robust defense. The 20-year-old’s playing style, described as “courageous” by football journalist Antonio Mango, adds a composed presence to the backline, potentially competing with Wout Faes and Jannick Vestergaard. If Maresca succeeds in securing Beraldo, it could serve as a significant statement, signaling Leicester’s serious intent to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

Trai Hume

Leicester have expressed an interest in Trai Hume, with the Foxes mulling a move for Sunderland’s star player alongside Burnley and Leeds United. This season, Maresca has primarily deployed Ricardo Pereira at right-back, with the Portuguese defender even captaining the Foxes on occasion.

Hume’s emergence on the scene may potentially throw a wrench in the works and make Pereira uncomfortable about his established status in the team; the current Black Cats man could possibly be an upgrade over the 30-year-old.

Abdul Fatawu

Leicester City is eager to secure Abdul Fatawu on a permanent deal this January after his impressive loan stint with the Foxes this season. The Sporting CP youngster has been a standout performer, contributing two goals and an assist to the Championship league leaders. Fatawu, expressing his desire to stay at the King Power, sees the potential of playing in the top flight as his “dream league.” Leicester holds a short-term loan deal option to retain the 19-year-old, with the ability to purchase him for £14.6m if they secure promotion. Fatawu is hopeful that this potential permanent deal can be expedited in January, aiming to contribute to his team’s journey back to the Premier League.
