Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has delivered a poignant message to Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray following his stunning dismissal.

Mowbray was fired by the Black Cats after only 15 months in command at the Stadium of Light.

His dismissal occurred following Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Millwall, which extended the club’s winless streak to one in their last five games.

“All at SAFC have thoroughly enjoyed working with Tony, and he is quite rightly held in high regard by our players, staff, and supporters,” Sunderland sporting director Kristjaan Speakman stated. He helped bring us to the Championship playoffs after arriving at an uncertain moment and played an essential role in improving our team.”

“We faced a challenging decision, but our commitment to ambition and strategy led us to take this step at the opportune moment. Our focus now is on identifying the right candidate, and we will continue to support our coaching team and players during the interim period.

Amad had a highly successful loan stint with Sunderland in the Championship last season, tallying an impressive 14 goals and three assists in 39 league matches. Despite sustaining a knee injury and being unable to play this season, his anticipated return would be a significant boost for United, addressing the struggles in the right-wing position.

Having formed a close bond with Mowbray during his time at Sunderland, Amad expressed gratitude to his former boss on social media after Mowbray’s dismissal, stating, ‘Thanks boss and good luck.'”
